Composite Doors North East — NE & C Windows and Doors manufacture, supply and install premium composite doors across the North East from our factory in Washington, Tyne and Wear. Every composite door we fit is built for high security, energy efficiency and long-term durability, with high-security multi-point locking systems fitted as standard for complete peace of mind.
We install composite doors throughout Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead, South Shields, Tynemouth, Washington and the wider Tyne and Wear area. Because we manufacture locally, we offer shorter lead times, full quality control, and a lower carbon footprint than nationally-sourced alternatives.
Our composite doors can be fully customised to your requirements and supplied complete with the matching frame to ensure a draught-free, weather-tight installation:
- Composite doors with side panels
- Composite doors with decorative or stained glass
- Composite doors with cat flaps fitted
- Composite doors with bespoke letterbox positioning
- Realistic wood grain effect or smooth contemporary finish
With so many options to choose from, we want the process to be as easy as possible. From composition and U-values to security ratings and colour matching, our team will guide you through every decision. Rather than buying a door from a high-street retailer and then trying to find a separate joiner to fit it, NE & C give you a complete door supply and installation service handled by our own trusted fitters — from initial survey through to the finished front door.
Whether your home is a traditional Victorian terrace, a 1930s semi, or a modern new-build, we’ll match a composite door style to your property. All designs are available in 40+ colours and a wide range of glass and panel options.
Traditional Composite Doors
Classic panelled designs with decorative glass, often finished in heritage colours like Chartwell Green, Rosewood or Irish Oak. Ideal for period properties and traditional homes across Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham.
Contemporary Composite Doors
Clean lines, minimal detailing and bold modern colours such as Anthracite Grey, Black or Agate Grey. Often paired with full-height glazing or matching aluminium doors for new-build and renovated properties.
Cottage-Style Composite Doors
Featuring small decorative window panels and authentic ledged-and-braced detailing. A perfect match for rural properties and character homes across Northumberland and County Durham.
Stable Doors
Split-opening composite doors that work as a single door or as two independent halves. Popular for kitchen back doors and properties with children or pets.
Composite Doors with Side Panels
For wider openings, our composite doors can be supplied with matching side panels and a transom above — creating a grand, light-filled entrance without sacrificing security.
French and Patio Composite Doors
For rear or garden access, we also fit composite double doors. For larger spans, our French doors, sliding doors and bifold doors may be a better fit.
All our composite doors are built to meet stringent UK security standards. For added peace of mind, we can specify doors that meet Secured by Design accreditation — the official UK Police preferred specification for security products — and PAS 24 testing, the same standard required for new-build homes.

What is a composite door made of?
A composite door is built from a combination of materials — typically a solid timber or insulating foam core, faced with a high-density GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) or thermoplastic skin. This multi-layer construction makes composite doors significantly more secure, weatherproof and energy efficient than a standard uPVC door or timber door, while still offering the appearance of a traditional wooden front door.
How long do composite doors last?
A quality composite door will typically last 30 years or more with minimal maintenance. The GRP skin won’t warp, crack, fade or rot, and the insulated core keeps performing for the lifetime of the door. NE & C composite doors are manufactured locally in Washington, Tyne and Wear, and we supply each with a full guarantee.
Are composite doors more secure than uPVC doors?
Yes. Composite doors are significantly more secure than standard uPVC doors thanks to their thicker construction (typically 44–48mm versus 28mm for uPVC), their reinforced core, and the multi-point locking systems we fit as standard. Many of our composite doors are tested to PAS 24 and Secured by Design standards — the same standards required for new-build homes in the UK.
What colours are available for composite doors?
NE & C offer composite doors in over 40 colours, including classic options like white, black, anthracite grey, Irish oak, agate grey, rosewood and Chartwell green. Doors can be specified with different colours inside and out, with a wide choice of glass designs, decorative panels and matching frame finishes. We can also colour-match to a specific RAL code on request — visit our Washington showroom to see the full range in person.
How much does a composite door cost in the North East?
Composite door prices vary based on size, design, colour, glass options and security features. A standard composite front door installation starts at the lower end, while doors with side panels, decorative glazing or premium designs sit higher. Rather than quote a misleading “from” price, we offer a free no-obligation survey and detailed quote so you know exactly what your project will cost — with no hidden extras.
Do composite doors need maintenance?
Composite doors are essentially maintenance-free. Unlike timber doors, they never need sanding, painting or sealing. The GRP skin simply needs an occasional wipe with warm soapy water to keep it looking new. We recommend lightly oiling the hinges and locking mechanism once a year to keep everything running smoothly, but that’s the extent of the upkeep.
Which areas do you cover for composite door installation?
NE & C install composite doors throughout the North East from our manufacturing facility in Washington, Tyne and Wear. We regularly work in Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead, South Shields, North Shields, Tynemouth, Washington, Chester-le-Street and across Northumberland. Contact us to confirm we cover your location.
