Aluminium Bifold Doors
The premium choice for bifold systems. Aluminium frames are significantly stronger than uPVC, which means slimmer sightlines, more glass and more light. Ideal for larger configurations (up to 6 panels and 6m wide), contemporary architectural homes, and extensions where you want a clean modern aesthetic.
Available in any RAL colour with a matt, satin or textured finish — anthracite grey and black being the most popular for new builds. We use industry-leading Reynaers and Schüco systems, both backed by 10-year guarantees.

uPVC Bifold Doors
A more affordable bifold option without compromising on energy efficiency or security. uPVC frames are slightly chunkier than aluminium, but the trade-off is excellent thermal performance and a price point that suits most domestic budgets.
uPVC bifolds are especially popular for traditional and period properties where a slimmer aluminium profile might look out of place. Available in white, woodgrain effects (Irish oak, rosewood, anthracite) and a range of foiled colour finishes.

The most popular configuration for typical domestic openings between 2.4m and 3m. Offers an excellent balance of glass area, ease of operation and value.
4-Panel Bifold Doors
Ideal for living-room extensions and openings between 3m and 4m. A 4-panel system can be configured 3+1 with a traffic door for everyday use without folding the whole set.

A bifold door is a multi-panel door system where the panels fold and stack neatly against one another as the door opens, concertina-style. This allows the entire opening to be cleared — typically up to 90% — making bifolds ideal for connecting indoor living spaces with patios, gardens or extensions. Bifold doors are available in 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 panel configurations and in either aluminium or uPVC frames.

Do bifold doors need planning permission?
Replacing an existing door or window with a bifold door of similar size typically falls under permitted development rights and does not require planning permission. However, planning permission may be needed if you are extending the property, working on a listed building, or living in a conservation area. As part of our free survey we’ll assess your project and advise whether planning permission is required.
Are bifold doors secure?
Yes. All NE & C bifold doors come with high-security multi-point locking systems fitted as standard, internally beaded glazing (so the glass cannot be popped out from the outside), and reinforced frames. Many of our aluminium bifold systems are tested to PAS 24 standards and can be specified to Secured by Design accreditation — the UK Police preferred specification for security products.
How long does bifold door installation take?
A straightforward bifold door installation typically takes 1 to 2 days from start to finish. Larger configurations, or installations requiring structural work to the opening, may take 2 to 3 days. We’ll give you a clear timeline after your initial survey, and our own installation team handles the work from start to finish — no subcontracted joiners or third-party fitters.
